Damon Dash was named Revolt TV’s temporary chairman as he launches “My Paid in Full” docuseries.
Damon Dash took the reins at Revolt TV this week as the network’s temporary chairman, bringing his AmericaNu Network content and launching a docuseries tied to his 2002 cult classic Paid in Full.
Dash made the announcement during an epic, contentious interview on The Breakfast Club, which aired on Tuesday morning (September 16).
The 54-year-old Roc-A-Fella Records co-founder will hold the position for one month, during which Revolt will simulcast 25 episodes of his podcast Bosses Take Losses and stream a large portion of his media catalog.
Dash’s appointment marks the first time the network has handed the chairman title to a guest executive.
“As the CEO of a media company dedicated to Hip-Hop culture and the diverse creators and consumers who drive it, it made sense to do business with Dame,” Revolt CEO Detavio Samuels said in a statement obtained by Vibe. “After 30 years, he continues to be a driving force in hip hop and pop culture, and people want to hear what he has to say no matter how they feel about it.”
Dash’s short-term leadership arrives as he prepares to unveil My Paid in Full, a docuseries that offers his personal take on the real-life stories behind the Harlem street culture portrayed in the film he produced over two decades ago.
“When I made Paid in Full, my intention wasn’t to tell the story of one crew,” Dash said in the trailer. “Every block had their own ‘Paid in Full.’ The block I was from and my own experience is my own ‘Paid in Full.’ I saw things and I know people that were actually there.”
The first part of the project will introduce real-life figures from Harlem, with a scripted series to follow. That dramatized version will be written by Harlem native Michelle Valentine.
Damon Dash co-founded Roc-A-Fella Records in 1994 alongside Jay-Z and Kareem “Biggs” Burke, helping to launch the careers of artists such as Freeway, Beanie Sigel, Memphis Bleek, Kanye West, and Cam’ron.
Revolt was launched in 2013 by Sean “Diddy” Combs, who stepped down as chairman in November 2023 amid ongoing legal issues related to his RICO scandal.
The network has since shifted to an employee-owned model.
