Katey Sagal Says Son Jackson White ‘Hates’ Being Called a Nepo Baby

Jackson White is pushing back against the term “nepo baby.”

Katey Sagal appeared on Christina Applegate and Jamie-Lynn Sigler’s MeSsy podcast and opened up about her actor son White, 29, who currently stars in Hulu’s Tell Me Lies. The mom of three noted that White is not a fan of people calling him a “nepo baby,” and he even went to lengths to distinguish himself from his mom.

“[Jackson] hates that whole ‘nepo baby’ thing. He didn’t lean into any of that,” Sagal says. “You know, he has a different last name than me, and a lot of people don’t know that he’s my kid, and he takes a lot of pride in that. As does Sarah, my daughter does as well.”

Sagal shares two of her kids — Jackson and Sarah, 30 — with ex Jack White. She is also mom to daughter Esmé, 18, whom she shares with husband Kurt Sutter.

Although he’s separated himself from Sagal, White and his mom were able to work together on Tell Me Lies when Sagal was cast as White’s mom in the show. The proud mom says that it was “really fun” for the duo to get to work together.

“He’s a psycho on the show, like with no conscience. So then his mother gets to be even worse,” Sagal says. “So that you end up having sort of sympathy for his character ’cause you realize where he came from.”

“So it was really fun for us. We had never, we have sung together before on stage but we’d never worked as actors together and we have a super close relationship,” she continues. “We are not like Psycho Mom and Son. And it was really fun to put on different clothes to be these different people.”
