I Can Walk Miles Blister-Free in These Fisherman Mules

As a shopping editor who owns a ridiculous amount of shoes, I’m pretty picky about what I’ll put on my feet. I’m all for trying the latest trends spotted on celebrities, but if they’re uncomfortable or not easy to integrate into my wardrobe, I’ll respectfully pass. 

I’ve seen several stars, such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Katie Holmes, wear fisherman sandals this summer, so naturally, I had to give them a whirl. I’ve been testing the Franco Sarto Leather Fisherman Slides for the past few months, and they’re just the right balance of comfort and ease (seriously, they slip right on), and they go with everything in my closet. They’ve officially earned my stamp of approval.

While these timeless shoes offer the classic fisherman-style woven shape, they don’t have an ankle strap. Instead, these are a hybrid of one of my other favorite shoe styles: mules. As someone who’s constantly running out the door — fashionably late, of course — these are a no-brainer footwear to slip on and go. 

They have a comfortable cushioned sole, a square-shaped toe, and a slight heel that measures around half an inch. While the sole is not super thick, it’s still supportive enough to have carried me for miles through the streets of New York without uncomfortable rubbing or blisters. 

These come in sizes 5 through 11 and four colors: acorn, black, gold, and silver. Although I own the acorn, and they’re a wonderful neutral to wear with dresses, jeans, and linen pants, I’m also eyeing the silver for a shiny pop that’ll play well with denim come early fall. And yes, sandals are typically considered a summer shoe, but the mule style will seamlessly transition into my autumnal wardrobe. 

Shoppers agree with me that the shoes are “cushiony, comfortable” and are suitable to wear “all day, no problem.” One person who already owns them in black and gold said they’re also debating snagging a third pair in silver, while another fan admitted to owning them in every color.
