Nick Cannon chalked up the birth of five children in a single year to what he called “careless activity” during a revealing interview where he reflected on his sprawling family and the motivations behind it.
The 44-year-old entertainer, who hosts The Masked Singer, welcomed five babies in 2022 with five different women—Legendary with Bre Tiesi, Onyx with LaNisha Cole, Rise with Brittany Bell, Beautiful with Abby De La Rosa and Halo with Alyssa Scott—bringing his total number of children to 12.
Asked by Vulture about the rapid expansion of his family, Cannon admitted he wasn’t trying to emulate Elon Musk’s famously large brood.
Instead, he said his choices were often driven by a desire to please others.
“It was a by-product of my eagerness to appease the women I was dealing with, or my single friends who wanted kids,” he said.
Still, Cannon acknowledged the pace caught even him off guard.
“It was also a little bit of, like, ‘OK, God, how did I have five kids in one year?’ Probably careless activity,” he said.
Despite the whirlwind year, Cannon isn’t closing the door on more children.
“There was a point in time where I was just like, ‘Nah, I’m done.’ And, then I was like, ‘Who am I to say that?’ It seemed like it was such an emphatic thing,” he said. “I never imagined that I would have 12 kids. So, it’s one of those things where I love children. I love my life, and if it could keep going in the direction that it’s going, why not?”
Cannon is also preparing to launch a new podcast, Nick Cannon @ Night, where he’ll share relationship advice and personal insights. The show is expected to premiere later this year.
