Eric Sonestreet had the sweetest reaction to his longtime friend Travis Kelce dating the most popular pop star on the planet, Taylor Swift.
“Travis is awesome,” the Modern Family star told Page Six in an interview published on Saturday, July 12. “I’ve known Travis for a long time, and I was so happy for him when they started dating because I know him.”
The actor continued of Swift, “She deserves a great guy, and he’s a great guy.”
Swift, 35, and Kelce, also 35, went public with their relationship in September 2023, after the pop star attended a Kansas City Chiefs game in support of the Super Bowl-winning tight end. Later, in an interview for TIME’s Person of the Year, Swift revealed that the pair had actually started dating months prior.
“We actually had a significant amount of time that no one knew, which I’m grateful for, because we got to get to know each other,” she told the magazine. “By the time I went to that first game, we were a couple. I think some people think that they saw our first date at that game? We would never be psychotic enough to hard launch a first date.”

Since then, Swift has been a staple at Kelce’s home games, playoff matches and Super Bowl appearances. Kelce, for his part, has been a huge supporter of Swift’s, attending many of her history-making “Eras Tour” shows before its end in December 2024.
“When you say a relationship is public, that means I’m going to see him do what he loves, we’re showing up for each other, other people are there and we don’t care,” Swift told TIME. “The opposite of that is you have to go to an extreme amount of effort to make sure no one knows that you’re seeing someone. And we’re just proud of each other.”
While fans of the pair have long-speculated that a walk down the wedding aisle is in the pair’s future — and rumors the pair have already married have been thoroughly debunked — Stonestreet told the outlet that he would be thrilled to see his buddy say “I do” to Swift.
“Oh my god, I don’t know about that,” he told Page Six of a potential invite to a future wedding. “I love both of them very much. It would obviously be amazing if that happened, but I wouldn’t want to go if it wasn’t the right thing.”
He continued of his possible attendance, “I wouldn’t want to force my way in there.”
