Sydney Warner posted a message of support after her husband, San Francisco 49ers star Fred Warner, suffered a brutal season-ending injury.
“Its Gods plan always. Keep the faith ❤️,” Sydney, 30, posted via her Instagram Story on Monday, October 13.
Fred, 28, dislocated and fractured his ankle during the 49ers’ 30-19 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, October 12. After the game, 49ers head coach, Kyle Shanahan, announced the linebacker will need season-ending surgery.
“There’s certain games you wake up knowing it’s gonna be your day, and yesterday was one of those days.” Fred posted via Instagram on Monday. “I knew I was bout to go off, and then boom everything over in one instant that was completely unpreventable. The love everyone has shown me and the prayers being had for me mean the world to me. Some ask why I was able to smile on the cart heading in and it’s because (aside from the shock) I have complete peace in knowing Gods plan is so completely perfect and I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be.”
He added, “I’ve had the privilege of being able to have a very healthy 8 seasons and now it’s time to inspire through the comeback I’m bout to have. It will be LEGENDARY and right on time God willing. Thank you guys, love always GO NINERSb 🙏🏾❤️.”
Fred has missed only one game in his eight-year career, all with San Francisco. In 2021, he was forced to sit out a game with a hamstring injury.
He was injured during the first quarter of Monday’s game when his right leg was rolled over from behind by teammate Ji’Ayir Brown.
Sydney and Fred met shortly after Sydney appeared as a cast member on Peter Weber’s season of The Bachelor in 2020. Fred and Sydney got married in June 2022 and welcomed their first child, son Beau, in March 2024.
Last month, Sydney and Fred announced they are currently expecting their second baby, due in 2026.
In an exclusive interview with Us Weekly in December 2024, Sydney admitted it took her some time to figure out her place within the 49ers community of wives and girlfriends.
“You find your footing,” Sydney said. “I think it took me a while to find my niche and where I felt comfortable being a wife, now a mother, a girlfriend at the time. Now I’m Fred’s partner and we’re a duo. That’s an amazing thing to say.”
She continued, “As a team, we work really well together. It’s just nice being able to be a teammate with him and me finding my footing, as well. I think it’s just a timing thing. And it’s all worked out.”
Sydney gushed about the 49ers’ “huge community of working women,” which includes fashion designer Kristin Juszczyk, wife of fullback Kyle Juszczyk, and model Olivia Culpo, wife of running back Christian McCaffrey.
“The women are kind of in the spotlight now, which is such a refreshing thing to see,” Sydney said. “It’s really cool to see how things change, you know? To be with such an amazing community and organization like the Niners, I couldn’t have asked for a better situation. We’re so happy to be here and so blessed.”
